It lies about 15 miles northeast of Saranac Lake and about 25 miles northwest of Lake Placid, which was home to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. Loon Lake has a unique history, with several US Presidents having vacationed here. Summers bring a professional concert series known as "Loon Lake Live".
